Born in 1768 in VA, he moved to Spartanburg District, SC, and migrated to Campbell prior to 1833. He settled on land near Campbellton.

It is likely that Armstead Bomar was the previous owner of this property prior to his death in 1840. Armstead owned the Original Ferry of Old Campbellton Georgia across the Chattahoochee River to What is now the Douglas County side. He was also the Second owner of the Old Rice, Bullard, Henley House from 1838 to 1940.

His obituary was printed in the Greenville Mountaineer (SC) on 31 January 1840.
