Author. He was born in Boskovice, Czech Republic. He began his career in 1920 with his book "Boys and Murderers", which was highly praised by writer Thomas Mann. His other novels include "The Maimed" (1923), "The Murder of Captain Hanik" (1925), and "The Class." (1927). Ungar's style was influenced by Expressionism and psychoanalysis. He died of an acute appendicitis. His last book, "The Arbor", was published after his death.
