Born in Spear Hill, Manitoba, he came West to Calgary in 1930. Served overseas with the RAF and RCAF as a Signal Flying Officer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters _______, one son ____; three brothers, Kris, Red Deer, Hans, Toronto, Lawrence, Edmonton; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Brink and Mrs. Ann Dunckly, Calgary. He is also survived by his father, Mr. Kristian Birkland.
