Joseph Geselter age 97 of Lansing, Illinois (formerly Rogers Park, Chicago) was a WWII Veteran, who was in the lead tank that crossed the Rhine River and first met the Germans in Elbe, Germany. He was born July 20, 1917 to Max and Mary Geselter. Joey was a brother to his siblings; Irene, Harry, Oscar and Ann. He married the late Agnes Shapiro. He was step-father to Kandi and Larry; step-grandfather to April and John. He had many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews. Joey was an awesome companion to Jackie Rapnikas and her children; Richard , Joseph, Diane (Paul) Izral and Donna Charnot. Grandfather to Joee-Nicole, Ricky, Bryan, Todd, Ashley, Brittany, Derek and Blake; great grandfather of Peyton and Liam, to them he was known as "Poppie Selter". He was a member of Local IATSE 750, VFW 802 and Polish American Community Fair (PACF). He was very loved and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to Illinois Veteran Home in Manteno, Illinois. Arrangements trusted to Kerr-Parzygnot Funeral Home 540 Dixie Hwy. (at Joe Orr Road), Chicago Heights, IL 60411. Inurnment: Everyone to meet at Menorah Gardens, 2630 S 17th Avenue, Broadview, Illinois on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11:30M service.
