Bret Aiken, a retired Puyallup berry farmer, died Monday. He was 78.
Mr. Aiken, of 13015 Pioneer Way E., Puyallup, was born in Orofino, Idaho, and had lived in the Puyallup area more than 40 years. He had taught school in New Mexico, California, Idaho, and Bellingham, before becoming a berry farmer in 1941.
He was a past president of both the Pierce County Farm Bureau and Washington Berry Growers Association.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Puyallup.
Survivors include his wife, Velma R.; a son, George B. Lange of Littleton, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Janice R. Dearholt of Las Cruces, N.M.; two sisters, Mrs. Letha Lear of Puyallup and Mrs. Mavis McEvers of Cashmere; a brother, Edwin H. Aiken of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Hill Funeral Home in Puyallup is in charge.
