William was married to Civility Honor Anne Grace Holliman Stephenson. This lady had four first names. He died when he was 69 years of age.

William Maxwell was one group that was appointed by the Governor to be a Commissioner and he surveyed Waller County when it formed into a county. He also was the first trustee of Kirby Chapel Cemetery. He was a member at Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge # 380 at Field Store. He was the originator of the Maxwell Half Moon Ranch. His place of residence on the corner of Thompkins Lane and Old Mithcell Road in the South East Road.

William Maxwell was the BROTHER-in-law to JAMES BELL STEPHENSON. JAMES BELL STEPHENSON and WILLIAM MAXWELL served as the FIRST Waller County Commissioner's. James Bell Stephens was appointed by the then Gov. of Texas to draw lines and create a new County from then AUSTIN COUNTY...that county became WALLER COUNTY.

William Maxwell married Civility Honor Ann Grace Stephenson(May 22, 1842, Austin County, Texas.

William Maxwell was the son of CLARIKA WILLIAMSON(his 2nd wife) & THOMAS MAXWELL(Born in Virginia/January 29, 1784) Thomas and Clarika were married in Green County Kentucky/February 3,1809.) 1850 Census of Grimes County TX lists Thomas Maxwell, 66 VA as living in the household of his son-in-law and daughter, James Bell Stephenson, 30 and Melissa Maxwell Stephenson, 26.
