Esther Whatman Alford Succumbs Mrs. Esther Whatman Alford widow of Hyrum Alford, died at 9:30 o'clock tuesday evening at the home of a friend, Mrs. George C. Creene, 1723 Twenty-fifth street, after a long illness. She was born in England on February 28, 1859, a daughter of Henry and Anna Whatman. she had lived in this country for 50 years, 20 of which were spent in Uintah. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: William Whatman, England; Mrs. Charles Sherwood, Salt Lake City; Ben Whatman, Pleasant View; Mrs. Harriet Turpin of Ogden. Serives will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock in Lindquist & Sons' chapel, with members of the Salvation Army in charge. The body may be viewed at the chapel this evening until 9 o'clock and Thursday until hour of services. Interment in the Ogden city cemetery.
