My great grandfather. Confederate surgeon, Medical Pioneer. He was raised in Wytheville, VA and served as a contract surgeon with several Confederate units in southwestern Virginia. After the war was the first physician in Tazewell County, Virginia and one of the first in Southwestern Virginia.

Was married to Maria Taylor, a relative of President Zachary Taylor and thus of Lt. Gen. Dick Taylor.
