Mrs. Breland was born in Ethel, MS on September 25, 1931, to W.T. Wasson and Waby Barton Wasson. On June 8, 1954, she married James A. "Jimmy" Breland in Cleveland, MS. She was a graduate of Kosciusko High School, Holmes Community College, and Delta State University. She taught in the Cleveland School system for 31 years as an elementary school teacher as well as acting principal of Parks Elementary School. She was a true woman of God who was an ever-present figure in her church and was active in the ministry of her husband. She served as the church librarian for 40 years at First Baptist Church where she was a member. Mrs. Breland was also a member of the Madame Hodnett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of Retired Teachers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, W.T. Wasson and Waby Barton Wasson; and sibling, Ellis Wasson, Sr.
Mrs. Breland is survived by her husband, James A. Breland; daughter, Brenda Sims (Dwayne) of Enterprise, AL; grandsons, Cliff Sims (Megan) of Birmingham, AL and Brian Sims of Florence, AL; nieces, Gwenda Swain (Bill) of Cerritos, CA and Mitzi Miller Wasson of Cabot, AR; and nephew, Ellis Wasson, Jr. of Huntington Beach, CA.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Arnold, Alan Berry, Brain Ellis, Brian Sims, Cliff Sims, and Mickey Thompson.

"Please don't cry because I died!" the note reads, punctuated with hopeful exclamation marks. "Smile because I lived! Know that I'm in a happy place! Know that we will meet again! I'll see you there!"
