Mrs. Ann Barker Bennett of Rte. 2, Tallapoosa, passed away at her home, December 24, 1970, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Bennett was born in Cleburne County Ala., the daughter of the late Thomas M. Barker and Sarah Vaughan Barker. Her late husband, William Newman Bennett died August 10, 1941.

Surviving are four daughters; Mrs. Dossie McGriff, Tallapoosa, Hessie Bennett of Eastaboga, Alabama, Mrs. Lucille Smith of Decatur, Georgia and Mrs. Mildred McMahan of Hopewell, Alabama.

Five sons; Reese Bennett of Heflin, Lee Bennett of Tallapoosa, Claude and Spencer Bennett both of Stockbridge, Georgia and Houston Bennett of Forest Park, Georgia; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 26 at 11:00 a.m. C.S.T. from Upper Cane Creek Methodist Church with Rev. H. T. Henderson officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Interment was in the church cemetery with Hubert Miller Funeral Home of Tallapoosa in charge of arrangements.
