This son of the Rev. Fletcher and Lisa Satisfield married Camilla Smith in June, 1922 and had six children. He earned his D.D. degree from Easonian Baptist College in Birmingham; he served in the U.S. Army in France during World War I. He later became an active member of the Lilly Grove Baptist Church, in Ensley (Jefferson County), Alabama. In 1936 he was asked to become pastor of that church, a post he held to his death.
