Professional Football Player. For six seasons (1967 to 1972), he played at the guard position in the American and National Football Leagues with the Houston Oilers. Born Thomas Eugene Regner, he attended St. Joseph's High School in Wisconsin, where he was a standout athlete, as he participated in track and basketball, as well as football. He played collegiate football at the University of Notre Dame and under the guidance of Hall of Fame coach Ara Parseghian, he earned both consensus All-American and academic All-American honors. Regner experienced a National Championship with the Fighting Irish in 1966. Selected by Houston during the 1st round of the 1967 NFL Draft, he played in 67 career regular season AFL and NFL games. He put together a consecutive games-played streak which lasted the course of three seasons (1967 to 1969). He died of complications from diabetes.
