The Idaho Springs Siftings June 9 1916

Herbert C. Batchelder, a well know citizen and pioneer, died at his home from pneumonia. He was born in Canada but came to this city with his parents in 1872. When he arrived at manhood, he engaged in teaming, milling and mining.

Herbert Batchelder was a man of very quiet and retiring disposition attending strictly to his own affairs and never meddling with those of his neighbors. The high esteem in which he was held by this community was evidenced by the large number of friends and former associates who gathered at his late home to render their last sad tribute to one whom they sincerely mourn.
