Homer Renfro was the son of Thomas Austin Renfrow and Lucretia Jane Daugherty. He married: Media Swift, 30 Nov 1920 in Ohio County, Kentucky.

The family lived in a small house next to the railroad just before the Great Depression. Homer worked for L & N Railroad in Midland, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. He was one of seven workers known as the "extra gang". They were the ones that drove the spikes and lifted ties on the railroad.
Homer's wife, Media, along with the wives of other workers, cooked and served their meals in a boxcar on the extra track of the railroad, and that is where Sylvia was born.
Homer retired from the railroad after he became blind.

Homer's mother, Lucretia Jane Daugherty, was the daughter of Chesterfield Daugherty b. Jan 1839 in Butler Co Ky., and Mary Polly Evans b. Oct 1842. Chesterfield and Mary Polly were m. Jan 26, 1860, in Ohio Co KY. He was the son of William B. and Elizabeth Wiley Daugherty b. 10 Jul 1805, in Ohio Co Ky., death 14 Nov 1880, in Butler Co Ky., with burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Butler Co., KY.
Homer and Media were the parents of 8 children:
1. Sylvia Mae Renfro b. August 1925, m. William Garland Lynn; Hardin Co.
2. Jane Renfro m. Edith Lee Lynn; Hardin Co.
3. Leora Renfro, m. Fred Williams; they lived in Indiana, they never had children. Leora died in a nursing home in KY., cremation was chosen and she is buried in a Veterans Cemetery with Fred.
4. Guy Cleveland Renfro, never married; Hardin Co.
5. Frances Renfro, m. Harold Dolph; South Carolina
6. Duma M. Renfro, date of death Jan 29, 1976 in Hardin Co., KY at the age of 45 yrs., m. Bivan Bratcher
7. Clifford Renfro, m. Linda Padgett; Meade Co.
8. Homer Wallace (Donnie) Renfro, m. Louise Tucker; Hardin Co.
