Rites Are Held Saturday for Barton Strand
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Congregational Church in
Uehling for Barton Gerald Strand of Uehling, who died suddenly May
12 at his home. Rev. Ross Louthan conducted the service and
interment was in the Baptist Cemetery south of Uehling, with Lodge
and Military services at the grave. It was a Wollmer & Warne
service. Music was by Charles Landholm, accompanied by Marvel
Christensen, organist. Pallbearers were E. D. Murer, Loell Strand,
Leonard Strand, Raymond Wedergren, Charles Erickson and Wayne
Sommerer.
Mr. Strand was born March 27, 1896 at Oakland, the son of Emma and
Swan Strand, and had lived in the community his entire life. He
was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and was a member
of the Men's Fellowship. He was a member of the Congregational
Church and American Legion Post No. 196 at Uehling; I. O. O. F. at
Craig; and the Veterans World War I Barracks No. 496. On March 28,
1918 he married Carrie Erickson, and she preceded him in death in
December 1957. He married Carmen Realph Aug. 18, 1960 and had since
lived in Uehling. He is survived by his wife; a daughter Muriel
(Mrs. Willis Rabe) of Oakland, and son Gerald of Hooper; also five
grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two step children, Mabel
(Mrs. Maurice Hansen) of Omaha and Mrs. Carmen Lowe of Uehling; two
brothers, Ernest of Uehling and Lawrence of Oakland.
