Obituary

Josephine Lenora (Josie) Mattson was the second child born to John
and Carrie (Peterson) Mattson. She was born on October 6, 1895 on
the family farm located about three miles south of Uehling. Josie
attended school at District #84, Loganview. She and her family
attended church services at the Saispar School which was part of
the American Sunday School Mission. Later she attended the
Congregational Church in Uehling. Josie served as their Sunday
School Superintendent for several years.

Josie moved with her parents to a home in Uehling in February of
1928. She helped her parents care for their home as well as helping
with the flower and vegetable gardens. In their later years, Josie
took care of their parents. After the death of the parents Josie
worked for other people in Fremont by keeping house for them.

Josie spent her later years living in the Hooper Care Center. She
died on November 1, 1983. Josie was buried in the Baptist Cemetery
south of Uehling.
