Jane and her husband James immigrated to New York on the ship 'London' on May 21 1847. James and Jane were living in ward 19 on the 1860 census. In 1850 they were living in Germantown. James was a 'stocken weaver' in 1850. He was still a stocking weaver in 1860.
If this James was the first husband of Jane White, he had 9 known children:
1-Margaret Boyd (1835 or 1845 Ireland) two different ages given on the censuses; married Mr. McLaughlin
2-Martin Moses Boyd* (1839 Ireland)
3-Mary Boyd (1842 Ireland)
4-Elizabeth Boyd Lees (1849 PA-1897)
5-Alice Hester Boyd (1849 PA-1876) married her stepfather's son James White, Jr.
6-William 'John' Boyd (abt 1852/53) married Annie
7-Jennie Boyd (1860 Mont Co PA- Nov 14 1870 Roxborough PA)
8-Sarah Boyd (abt 1856)
9-Jemimah? Boyd
He was 49 years old when he died from injuries received while working on the railroad.
James lived at Randolph and Master Streets in ward 17. This is fairly close to where Jennie Boyd (his daughter?) died in 1870. Her death certificate said 1026 'Wallan' Street, which must have been Wallace Street (since there was no Wallan).
Originally buried at Odd Fellows in Philadelphia and re-interred when the cemetery closed.
