The information regarding this burial in an unmarked grave was provided by Thomas Vann Junkins, his 3rd Great Grandson.
John Junkin was an Ulster Scot immigrant from County Antrim or Down in Ireland. He sailed across the Atlantic in late 1806 arriving in Charleston in 1807. He followed earlier Junkin family members who had already settled Appalachia in Pennsylvania, the Virginias and the Carolinas. He lived in Chester District (County) Fishing Creek, South Carolina and buys land. He marries Anny Ferguson. In 1823, following the land lotteries, he moves to North Alabama. The Junkin family settle on 40 acres in Morgan County, Alabama very close to Danville. The family were charter members of Forrest Chapel Methodist Church. John passes in 1829 or very early 1830.
