Mr. Leonard "Jack" Johnson, 78, of Hamburg, who was born March 27, 1925 in Shilow, LA, died Thursday, January 22, 2004 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, LA. A resident of Hamburg for the past 40 years, he was a retired truck driver and a member of the Gardner Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jewel Roper Adams Johnson of Hamburg; three daughters, Elaine Clark of Greensburg, Indiana, Ruth Ann Chance of Sheridan, and Paula McDuffee of Hamburg; one stepdaughter, Betty Kinney of Monroe, LA; a brother, Jody Johnson of Conway, LA; three sisters, Margie Parker of Coos Bay, Oregon, Myrtle Dodd of Farmerville, LA and Patricia King of Conway, LA; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and four step- great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maurine Bardin Johnson, in 1973; an infant daughter, Jackie Lynn Johnson; his parents, Pete and Eunice Pilgreen Johnson; two brothers, Dick and Red Johnson; one sister, Tessie Whitehead and one stepson, C.L. Adams.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 24, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Joey Meredith officiating. Pallbearers were Wayne and David Chance, Joey Sistrunk, Roy McDuffee and Michael and Crawford Adams. Burial followed services at the Lakewood Cemetery
