I found Mimi in the compressor room at my place of employment. The weather was extremely cold outside, and this small kitten had an obviously broken back, and frost bitten ears. Mimi was pulling herself along with her front legs, with her back legs splayed, and dragging behind. The Vets. immediate answer was euthanasia; I steadfastly refused. We put a splint on her back, wrapped her in a towel, carried her around like a baby, until she was walking around in about 6 weeks. We kept cream on her ears, and the frost bite eventually peeled. She had to endure aqua therapy, (water deep enough in the bathtub for swimming), and back massages, for about four weeks, after the brace was removed. We took her back to the Vet. and he was amazed; he said , she shouldn't be walking. Mimi could play fetch like a dog, and one of her favorite foods was pepperonis. She even had her favorite TV show; which was Little House On The Prairie. When I was working second shift, I would call my Alan at seven thirty each night. He would hold the phone to her ear, and he said she would sit there and listen to everything I said. This small cat was the best friend I ever had. She was always there! She looked like she was smiling all the time; even though we knew she had nerve pain from her previously broken back. I will love and miss her forever; this is that special little one who stole my heart. Go with GOD Mimi baby. I can't hold you in my arms now, but I'll hold you in my heart forever. Maybe I can continue your back rubs in Heaven. This little cat gave me 17yrs, 2mths, and 6days of great happiness. Mimi passed from intestinal infection.
