Marianne and Lawrence Deion worshiped at St. Adalbert's Church, a Catholic congregation designated for Polish immigrants in Providence. Upon Marianne's death in 1917, St. Adalbert's priest declared he was unsatisfied with the Deions' contributions to the church and forbade her from being interred at the Catholic-run St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston. Instead, Marianne was laid to rest in the neighboring protestant Pocasset Cemetery.

- Account relayed by Marianne's grandson, Henry "Hank" Deion, on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019.
