Melvin Jackson, 68, died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Ga. His funeral will be held Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Herman Hand officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 2 PM for an hour before the funeral. Burial will follow in the Colomokee Cemetery. Active pallbearers are: Tommy Nix, Jimmy Nix, Brooks Hoskins, Bobby Hoskins, Shannon Hutto and Mike Myers. Melvin was born Sept. 27, 1945 in Bluffton, Ga. to the late Cleveland Jackson and Johnnie Mae Hayes Jackson Murkerson. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Potters House, a non-denominational church in Bainbridge. His survivors include 3 brothers: Wayne Jackson of Blakely, Ga., John Jackson of Climax, Ga. and Clarence Jackson Pamela of Aurora, CO. There are 5 Sisters: Juanita Scott of Marble Hill, MO, Stella Mae Strickland of Bainbridge, Jean Gilbert & Thomas R. of Fayetteville, NC, Vivian Hoskins of Bainbridge and Madge Ward of Thomaston, Ga. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Tim Jackson.
