He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always put his family ahead of himself. He was always there for his children, and lifted up each grandchild. In his final hours his grandchildren lifted him up.
Mr. Higdon was born and raised in the mountains of North Carolina. He and his wife spent countless hours at the Higdon family farm where family and friends were always welcomed. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army he continued to serve his country working for the Department of Energy. He is a Cold War patriot. While in the Army he trained in lithographic printing, at which he made his career before retiring from Keith Press. A more loved and respected man never lived.
He is survived by daughter, Judy Brennan; son, Mark Higdon; grandchildren, Sterling and Lori Brennan, Cameron, Kennedy, and Eric Higdon; great-granddaughters, Savannah and Sydney Brennan; sisters, Sylvia Webb and Belle Ingram of North Carolina. A special thank you to the wonderful nurses at Professional Case Management for the loving, tender care and for caring for our family as well. Also to the kind, compassionate nurses at Avalon Hospice. The family will hold graveside services at Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors and Rev. Kent Williams officiating.
