BRISCOE, Dr. Anne Born in New York City on Dec. 1, 1918, she passed April 16, 2014. Anne Briscoe was educated in part at Vassar College and Yale University, and in part by life experience in the wider world since graduation. She is retired from the Faculty of Medicine of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, where she also served as director of the clinical laboratory at Harlem Hospital Center. She was a member of the Advisory Council of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, served on the Boards of Governors of the New York Academy of Sciences, and of AYA or the Association of Yale Alumni, respectively. A 1986 recipient of the Yale Medal, she was still active in the Yale Graduate School Alumni Association and the Alumni Fund. Many of you have been receiving letters from her for over 10 years. She had also remained active in the Association for Women in Science, of which she was a founder and past president. For 10 years she had been vice-chairperson of the New York City Commission on the Status of Women, and described herself as a feminist activist, not retired and unrepentant, and greatly valued the Susan B. Anthony Award she received from the National Organization for Women in 1989. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 2nd at 11 am at Old Rock Landing Cemetery, 326 Rock Landing Rd., E. Hampton, CT 06424 and a Memorial Service will be held at Royal Palm, 200 Lake Avenue, Largo, Monday, May 12th at 11 am.
