Hobbins – Suddenly, in Green Island, NY, May 15, 1941, James Hobbins, brother of Frank Hobbins. Funeral private from the residence of his nephew, James Doyle, 8 ½ George St., Monday morning at 9 o’clock, thence to St. Joseph’s Church, where a solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9:30 o’clock. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet.

The funeral of James Hobbins was held this morning from the residence of his nephew, James Doyle, 8 ½ George Street, and from St. Joseph’s Church, where a solemn requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Kenneth Doyle, assistant pastor of St. John’s Church, Schenectady. Rev. Peter H. Smith was deacon and Rev. Joseph Honan of St. Patrick’s Church, Watervliet, was subdeacon. Rev. Austin J. Corbett, pastor of the church, was seated in the sanctuary. Miss Alicia Leonard presided at the organ and Mrs. Cornelius Toomey sang “Pia Jesu” at the offertory. Peter Heffern sang “O Meritum” and at the conclusion Mrs. Toomey and Mr. Heffern sang “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling” and at the recessional, “Nearer, My God, to Thee”. Bearers were William F. McNulty, Richard J. Murray, Edward M. Dower, Stephen A. Hogan, Raymond Butts and Charles Legnard. Interment was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, where Fathers Doyle and Smith officiated.
