James Adams was born circa 1827 according to his death certificate.

There is no mention of where he lived at the time of death other than an unproven article of his 100th birthday. He is mentioned in an article in Waco "The institution's 17 residents in 1926 included disabled, blind, paralyzed, palsied and "very aged" individuals. One resident, an elderly preacher named James Adams, lived at the home for almost a decade before dying from pneumonia at age 105 on Dec. 30, 1932, according to his death certificate."
Another paper wrote in December 1928, on the occasion of his 100th birthday, said the Georgia native came to Texas in 1843 with the Adams family of Jasper County, and was sold two years later to the Weatherred family, where he stayed through the Civil War" but there is no proof this is correct only hearsay.
