Mrs. Nancy Sargent Yagar, age 79, of Memphis, TN, formerly of Manchester, TN, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Colwell officiating. Burial will follow in Fredonia Cemetery. Visitation for family will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, and public visitation will follow at 11:00 AM until time of service. Mrs. Yagar passed away in Memphis, TN on Thursday, March 13, 2014.

Mrs. Yagar was born and raised in Coffee County, TN, the daughter of the late John E. and Ada Marie Gill Sargent of the Fredonia Community. She graduated in 1954 with a Secretarial Degree from Draughons' Business College in Nashville, TN, and received her BBA Major in General Management and Minor in Office Administration from the University of Memphis, graduating cum laude in 1983.

Nancy retired in 1997 from TBC Corp. in Memphis with 22 years of service as an Executive Assistant to Senior Vice President Operations & Treasurer. During previous residence in Raleigh, NC, she was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. from 1963 to 1973, and in Nashville, TN, was employed by First American National Bank from 1955 to 1963. She served on the Board of Directors for Chatham Village Homeowners Assoc. for 6 years, was a member of the Professional Secretaries International for 20 years, and a member of Jane Phillips Society for 30 years.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her husband, William Q. Yagar; one brother, James Sargent; and two sisters, Edith Haley and Blanch Hayden. She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl W. (Phil) Moran of Arlington, TN, Dorinda Kaye (Phillip) Hughes of Byhalia, MS, and Belinda Faye (Mike) Trussell of West Memphis, AR; three grandchildren, Morganne A. Moran, Luke Hughes, and Kyle Hughes; and six siblings, Mary Catherine Sargent of Cincinnati, OH, Robert (Carol) Sargent of Decatur, IL, Helen Hayden of Pekin, IL, Tenky Hibdon and Ruby (Harold) Shelton, both of Manchester, and Faye (Bobby) Davis of Smyrna, TN.
