She was born February 18, 1902, in Ashland, IL, the daughter of Edgar and Alta Horton Hord. She married Fred Pickard on June 27, 1923, in Taylorville. He died December 23, 1966. She was a bookkeeper at Cohn Furniture in Taylorville for thirty years and was a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Ernest Hord and Lew Hord, and two sisters, Ruth Hord Showalter and Helen Hord Corzine.
