Mathilda R. “Tillie” Hord, 86, of Taylorville, died at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 1999 in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 1, 1913 in Taylorville, the daughter of Anton and Antonia Yakobac Racki. She married Ernest L. “Lefty” Hord June 1 1935 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death, December 13, 1991. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America. She was employed at Liberty Mutual for 9 years and two years in the lunchroom at St. Mary’s School.

Surviving are two sons, George Hord and wife Nancy of Lake Toxaway, North Carolina and John Hord and wife, Janet of Troy; one daughter, Rita Goodman and husband, Alan of Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Anthony Racki and wife, Marie of Taylorville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.

Services will be at 10 o’clock Friday, September 17, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father John O’Connell will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Shafer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
