Alfred Tribble enlisted in the 123rd U.S. Colored Infantry regiment, Company H, on October 1, 1864 at Camp Nelson, Kentucky.

He proceed directly from slavery to the war against slavery. Per his military records, he was owned by Columbus Tribble of Madison County at the time of his enlistment.
He mustered out on October 16, 1865 in Louisville.

He married Narcisse, maiden name unknown. She died before him. They had a daughter, Anna Tribble (1861-1925).
