Sheldon Berg, 89, of Cumberland died Nov. 8 at Cumberland Extended Care Unit. Funeral services were Saturday at First Lutheran Church inCumberland, with the Rev. Tim Schmidt officiating and burial at Dallas Cemetery in Dallas.
Mr. Berg was born Oct. 5, 1916 in Bloomer to Ole and Lena (Schmidt) Berg. He grew up in the Dallas area and graduated from Barron High School. On Sept. 9, 1938 he married Gladys Johnson in Dallas, and she died Oct. 11, 1981. Mr. Berg moved to northern Minnesota and worked in the taconite mines before retiring to a hobby farm in Cumberland. He married Lilah Lindemann in 1985, and she died May 28.
He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Holcomb of Eveleth, Minn., and Rebecca Berg of New Lisbon; a son, Eugene of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and a brother, Harlow of Dallas.
