Professional Hockey Player. For twenty-two seasons (1953 to 1975), he played at the left-wing and defense positions in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks, Minnesota North Stars, Atlanta Flames and Washington Capitals. Born Douglas Allen Mohns, he began his lengthy association in hockey with the Barrie Flyers of the Ontario Hockey Association and in 1953, he marked his NHL debut with Boston. His impact on the league was immediate, as he produced a 13 goal, 14 assist season which earned him all-star status. Mohns was tagged with the nickname "diesel" because of the way he dug into the ice and powered forward. Like a locomotive. During the 1959-1960 season, he reached the 20-goal plateau and from 1966 until 1969, he surpassed that mark. In 1,390 regular season games, he compiled 248 goals with 462 assists. He went on to achieve all-star status an additional six-times (1958, 1959, 1961, 1962, 1965 and 1972).
