Lester was born November 1, 1922, at Revelo, Kentucky to the late Burl and Anna (Smith) Slavey. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Basil (Garland) Slavey, two sons William and Evan Slavey, a sister Shirley Johnson, two brothers, Walter Slavey and Buddy King, and three sisters; Evelyn Stephens, Jewel Duncan and Pearl King.
Surviving family include three sons; Arlis Slavey, Wayne (and Barbara) Slavey and Burl (and Betty) Slavey, all of Strunk, Kentucky, 15 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, and 14 great great-grandchildren.
Lester was a member of the Lower Hickory Grove Church. He was a retired heavy equipment operator having retired from D. H. Campbell, Inc. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
