WAS CLARKS EMPLOYEE 48 YEARS
Mrs. Rose Lee, of 7, Silver Road, Street, who died at her home on March 25, aged 89, was one of C. & J. Clarks oldest pensioners.
She joined the firm in 1901 when she was 13 and first employed on errands in the old machine room, graduating later to linings. She spent 20 years on "vamping" operations and then on passing for 18 years. She retired in July 1948, after completing 48 years service with the company.
She was a daughter of the late Mr. Joe Carey, who was employed by the Avalon Leatherboard Co. at Street all his life.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Frank Lee. They had been married for 66 years.
The funeral service at Street Parish Church on Tuesday, March 29 was conducted by the Rev. H. Morgan and followed by interment in the churchyard.
