SIBLEY - Tillie Van Oort, 87, died Sunday, July 8, at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City.
Services were Wednesday, July 11, at the United Church of Christ in Sibley with Rev. Karl Schiltz officiating. Burial was at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley under the direction of the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.
Van Oort, daughter of Alle and Annie (Klingenberg) Berends, was born December 24, 1902, in Dale Township of Lyon County. She lived her youth in Melvin where she attended a country school.
She married Martin Heidebrink of Rushmore, MN, on Dec. 3, 1924, in Sibley. They lived in Little Rock and Sibley. He died in 1950.
On Oct. 13, 1959, she married John Van Oort of Orange City. They lived in rural Orange City until 1985, when she moved to Sibley to live with her daughter, Caroline Koster. He died in 1987.
Survivors include five daughters, Alminnie (Mrs. Chester) Lowe and Anna Mae (Mrs. Jim) Timmerman, both of Caldwell, ID, Margaret (Mrs. Willie) Salzman of Sibley, Elizabeth (Mrs. Vernon) Reekers of Onalaska, WI, and Caroline Koster of Sibley; a son, Delroy Heidebrink of Sibley; 27 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alex Berends of Sibley, and a sister, Margaret Wendt of Sioux Rapids.
