Virgil E. Hunton Jr. was the son of the Rev. Virgil E. Hunton Sr., and was a Minister of Music, serving in many Southern Baptist Churches, in the Dallas Texas, and New Mexico regions. Virgil E. Hunton Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas and was the first child of the Reverend and Mrs. V. E. Hunton Sr. Virgil as a young man, enlisted in the Army Air Corps, (later becoming the U.S. Air Force) during the second World War. Young Virgil had a near mishap as a young soldier, when the Bombay doors of a B series Bomber opened just prior to take-off, throwing Virgil onto the runway prior to lift-off. Due to this experience, Virgil never would ride a commercial, or any other aircraft after discharge from his military service. After his military service, Virgil pursued a calling to be a minister of the Gospel, just as his father before him. Returning to Dallas, Virgil Hunton Jr. attended the Dallas Theological Seminary in Eastern Dallas (http://www.dts.edu) and later traveled back to New Mexico where with his father, became the Minister of Youth and Music at the Calvary Baptist Church of Clovis. While there he met his Bride-to-be, Orchid Mae Luckett a young lady from a well known Clovis Family. The couple were married by the Senior Virgil E. Hunton, then moving from Clovis, ministering to those in Churches in Irving Texas, Raton New Mexico and finally returning to Clovis. Virgil was the Minister of Music for the Highland Baptist Church in Clovis, when he suffered chronic heart disease that was unknown to him at the time, and suffered a fatal Heart attack in the prime of his life. Virgil Jr. was an avid Hunter, Fisherman, and was a loving husband and father. He and Orchid had two beautiful children, Carole Ann and David L. Hunton, raising the children in Clovis.
