IN MEMORY OF HETTIE STEVENS DICKEY

Hetttie Stevens was born June 22, 1847 at Ottawa, LaSalle County, IL. Departed this life April 4, 1912, near Norwich, N. D.

She grew to womanhood near the place of her birth, where she was united in marriage to Reese M. Dickey on November 5, 1872, at Pontiac, Illinois, near which place they resided for two years. Then in 1847 (sic 1874) they moved to Walnut, Iowa and in 1880 to near Audubon, Iowa. And, in 1910 came to Norwich, N. Dak.

Mother Dickey was the mother of seven children, John E., Robert C., and Mrs. Ed Wood, of Norwich, N. D., Mrs. Forrest Whitted of Logan, N. D., Harry M., of Lenora, Okla., Frank L., of Audubon, Iowa, and Mrs. Logan Lowes of Swift Current, Can., all of whom with the husband and twenty seven grandchildren are left to mourn her loss.

In infancy she was baptized in the Presbyterian Church.

As wife and mother she was ever dutiful, her greatest pleasures were home and family until the very last moments of her life, smiling to and blessing the baby grandchildren, several of whom were at her bedside.

Although in poor health for a number of years, she bore her afflictions quietly and lived for those near and dear. While it was known for some time that she could not survive long, her death came as a shock, her last illness lasting but a few days, caused by an attack of pneumonia.

Services were held at the Presbyterian church at Norwich conducted by Rev. Hall and interment at Norwich cemetery on Wednesday, April 13, 1912 at 2 o'clock P. M.

The Ward County Independent, Thursday, April 11, 1912, 16

Note: she was also known as Hester Stevens Dickey. Conficting birth year; records indicate 1846. Also, death date as April 7, 1912.
