Funeral services for Elsie L. Messenger, 93, of Muleshoe, were held on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jack Stone of Muleshoe officiating.
Burial followed in Mission Garden Cemetery.
Elsie died on Dec. 1, 2013, in Muleshoe. She was born May 4, 1920 in St. Joe, to Charlie Bell Howard and Pearl (Woodard) Howard, and married Bennie Messenger on June 9, 1977.
Elsie was a nursing home cook and dietician. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Muleshoe.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Clark Selman and Bennie Messenger, her parents, four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include her two sons Lonnie Roby and wife Topsy of Headly, and Darrell Selman and wife Paula of Norman, Okla.; two step-sons — Lonnie Messenger and wife Shirley of Abilene, and Reggie Selman and wife Lorna of Almogordo, N.M.; two daughters — Nora Burris of Muleshoe, and Melba McRae of Lubbock; three brothers — Allen Howard, Ralph Howard and Troy Howard; eight grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
