SOUTH BEND - Born Gertrude Boykins on July 14, 1934, in Altheimer, Arkansas, Gertrude 'Queen' Morgan departed this life on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Aria Post-Acute Care Center, Hillside, Illinois. She was 79 years young. Formerly of South Bend, Gertrude was a longtime resident of Chicago, Illinois, and was employed with Cooper Enterprises for many years. She had most recently worked as a crossing guard with the Village of Oak Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Alie Bell Farris-Boykins, and sons, Jonathan Morgan and Matthew Morgan.

Those who survive to cherish her memory are daughters, Yvonne Rucker of Columbus, Ohio, Donna Morgan of Atlanta, Georgia, September Caddell of Chicago, Illinois, and Faith Redding of Bellwood, Illinois; sons, Michael Morgan of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert Morgan of South Bend, Indiana. Brothers, Peter and Allen Boykins of Omaha, Nebraska, also survive her along with 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
