Grace B. Moriarty, 94, a lifelong resident of Durham, died Feb. 26, 2009, at The Pines of Newmarket, where she had resided for the past several years.

Born on July 26, 1914, in Durham, she was the daughter of Antoni J. and Apolonia (Cichon) Biskup.

Grace was a communicant of the Church of St. Thomas More, and was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scout den mother and a member of the Durham Garden Club.

She loved the ocean and spent many hours mountain climbing with her husband. She was also an avid Red Sox fan.

Grace was married to Thomas B. Moriarty Sr. for 73 years. Tom died on Jan. 25, 2008.

She is survived by two children, Patricia Moriarty Martin and her husband, Leo, of Westport, Maine, and Thomas B. Moriarty Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Durham; four grandchildren, Michael Moriarty, Sean Moriarty, Christopher Martin and Suze Martin Wallace; and six great-grandchildren.

Grace's family is very grateful to the staff at The Pine's and Seacoast Hospice, for the loving care provided to her. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4pm at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. from the Church of St. Thomas More, Madbury Road, Durham. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.
