When Catherine Van Valen was born on 31 January 1764, in Bergen, New Jersey, United States, her father, Daniel Ver Veleen, was 44 and her mother, Jannetje Van Schyven, was 43. She was baptized on the 12th of February 1764 according to the Tappan Dutch Reformed Church in Tappan, Orange [Now Rockland County], New York. This was the Dutch reformed church that was just north of the New York and New Jersey border where many of the Bergen County, New Jersey Dutch would attend.
She married Richard Blanch on 22 February 1788, in Tappan, Orangetown, Rockland, New York, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 3 daughters.
She died on 17 February 1852, in Harrington Township, Bergen, New Jersey, United States, at the age of 88, and was buried in Tappan Cemetery, Tappan, Orangetown, Rockland, New York, United States.
