Race Driver. Daughter of Formula One driver Emilio de Villota. María was the first Spanish woman to debut in Formula One as a test driver for the Marussia team. She competed in the Spanish Formula Three and at the 24 Hours of Daytona, debuting as a test driver for Renault. On July 3 2012, she was involved in a terrible accident at Duxford, during an aerodynamic test, which cost her the loss of an eye. In February 2013, she received the go ahead to return at the wheel. On 14 October 2013, she would have presented her book "La vida es un regalo", written following the accident in which she risked her life in 2012. María was found dead in her hotel room in Seville.
