Anne Cox Parrish, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, in Athens.
Anne was born in Waycross, the daughter of James Monroe Cox Sr. and Ethel Elizabeth Gunter Cox. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel James Monroe Cox Jr.
Anne graduated from Waycross High School in 1964 and received a bachelor of science degree in business administration - economics from Valdosta State University in 1969. In 1970, she married Alan Parrish, of Atlanta, and they lived several places around the country during Alan's career in the oil industry, eventually settling in Athens.
In addition to her husband, Anne is survived by her sister-in-law, Mildred Owens Cox, of Cochran; nieces, Donna (Lawrence) Guillory and Delia (Steve) Spann, of Warner Robins, and Doraine (Michael) Willis, of Cochran; and several great-nieces and -nephews. She is also survived by her husband's sister, Linda (Walter) Abbey, and her daughter, Ansley (Curtis) Miller, both of Atlanta.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, at Lord & Stephens West, 1211 Jimmy Daniel Road, Bogart. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 3655 Atlanta Highway, Athens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Beech Haven Baptist Church, 2390 Broad St., Athens, GA 30606.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home West, Bogart, is in charge of the arrangements.
