HAND, HAROLD, 71 - of Milton, DE, formerly of Mays Landing, passed away suddenly on September 16, 2003 in Salina, KS. Born and raised in Laureldale, he was a lifelong resident before recently moving to Delaware. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He worked as a builder with his father, Norris, and continued the family business until 1982. Most recently he was an inspector for the State of NJ. Harold was a past member of Unity Lodge #96 of Mays Landing and currently a member of M.B. Taylor Lodge #141 of Hammonton. He was a past member of the Mays Landing Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Squad, and a founding member of the Buckshot Hunting Club of Laureldale. During his leisure time he enjoyed flying, traveling, fishing and hunting.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy, and sister, Anna; he is survived by his wife Sophie O.; his two sons: Harold Jr. "Sonny" of Elko, NV and Jeff and his wife Nancy of Dorothy; two step-children; Patricia Rosen of Mt. Laurel and Charles K. Giacobbe of Milmay; three grandchildren: Alex, Jonathan, and Jesse; and his brother, Walter E. Hand and his wife Pauline of Mays Landing.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 12 Noon, at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a viewing will be held from 11-12. Masonic services will be held at 11:30. Burial will be in Union
