He enlisted into the U. S Army on 14 March 1941, and was later awarded the American Campaign, Victory Medal and the Atlantic Pacific Campaign Medals for his service. His first wife was Shirley Wassmer whom he married in Chicago Illinois on 14 May 1949 [ According to Cook County Genealogy records, marriage Index ]. There were no children born. His second marriage was to Clara Kathryn Slown, whom he married 26 Dec 1956 [ Cook County Marriages File# 2427240 ].To them a daughter was born. He died 11 June 1968, in an unmarked grave at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst Illinois. On his death certificate he is listed with the Occupation of Clerk Accountant.
