Janie "Pete" Abshire, 83, of Gentry, AR passed away August 31, 2013 in Siloam Springs, AR.
She was born October 3, 1929 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Clell and Susie Mayo.

Janie worked for many years for Emerson Electric and was of the Baptist Faith where she attended the First Baptist Church of Highfill, AR.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Abshire; one daughter, Connie Carter; two brothers, Albert and Junior Mayo; five sisters, Helen Wright, Bessie Moses, Irene Vandroof , Willie Anne Weaver and Ruth Lane; two grandchildren, Jonathan Absire and Jessica Harmon.

Survivors include three sons; Curtis Abshire and wife Lori of Bentonville, AR, Stanley Abshire of Highfill, AR, Jackie Abshire of Bedford, TX; one sister, Rebecca Parsons and husband Chris of Springdale, AR, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Highfill, AR on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 10 am with the Pastor Roger Robins officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery near Gentry, AR. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, AR.
