Nan Scott Miller, 73, of Waco, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Nan was born Jan. 13, 1940, in Houston, to Austin B. Scott and E. Margaret Henshaw Scott. She graduated from Waco High School in 1957 and later graduated from Texas Tech University.

Nan returned to Waco and spent the next 35 years as an educator with the Waco Independent School District teaching second grade at Parkdale Elementary and later at Dean Highland Elementary.

She was a member of many organizations including Meals on Wheels, Delta Kappa Gamma, Brazos Forum, the Mayborn Museum, and Kappa Alpha Theta.

She was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she has served on the church vestry and as a long time member of the Altar Guild.

Nan was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Meg Cone and husband, David, of Brenham; her son, the Rev. Patrick Miller and wife, Allison, of Houston; sister, Evelyn Contois of Covington, La.; brother, Austin Scott and wife, Jane, of Aiken, S.C.; grandchildren, Caroline Cone, Margaret Cone and Austin Cone, all of Brenham, and Henry and Catherine Miller, both of Houston. Nan is also survived by a host of beloved friends.
