The estate of Mrs. Ida Crown, widow of Arie Crown manufacturers' representative who died in 1937, was placed at $1,159,557 in an inheritance tax return filed yesterday with County Clerk Barrett. Mrs. Crown, mother of Henry Crown, industrialist and chairman of Material Service corporation, 300 W. Washington st., lived at 5009 Sheridan rd. and died Aug. 9, 1956, at age 85. Federal estate tax was placed at $205,662 and Illinois tax at $38,120. She willed $119,000 to the Arie Crown Memorial fund, for charitable use, and a total of $20,000 to six relatives. The balance was placed in trust for a brother, Isadore Gordon, of New York City; a nephew, Isadore Schwartz, of Memphis, and four sons, Dr. Edward, 1150 N. State st.. physician; Irving, Henry, and Herman. The last three all are officials of Material Service corporation, and the return showed the corporation office as their address.
