Enlisted as a Private in Captain Dunham's Company, Milton Light Artillery, Florida Volunteers, on May 22,1862 at Chattahoochee, Florida. This Company later became Captain Abell's Company, Florida Light Artillery. He was paroled on April 26, 1865 at Greensboro, North Carolina. - Find A Grave contributor Robert F. Rubel

In his Confederate Service Records in 1864 his age appears to have been listed as 53 years old which would mean he was born about 1811 not 1795. If he was born in 1795 he would have been 69 years old in 1864. Since there are no dates on his marker, it is questionable how anyone could list any dates for his birth or death. -- Find A Grave contributor Sandra McLemore
