James Girard, 77, of Wausau died on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born to Arthur and Anna (Matecki) Girard on July 19, 1934, in Ladysmith WI. After graduating from U of W Superior, he was drafted by the US Army and served as a cryptographer. When he returned to civilian life, he worked in finance. Later, he and a colleague founded Badger Creditors, Wausau Credit Bureau, and Wausau Creditors. James was active in both the Optimists and Lions Clubs and Jaycees.

After he retired he devoted his time to his loving family and other interests which included reading, travel, fishing, and hunting.

He is survived by his son Juan (Janice) Girard, Denver CO; his daughter. Georgia Fischer, Kronenwetter, WI, Adrienne (Scott) Clark, Cheyenne, WY; sisters Bonnie Lou (Tom) Anderson, Rockford, IL; Geraldine Pratt, Ladysmith, WI; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his companion, Joyce Lagerbloom. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Anna Girard and brother Warren.

A memorial service was held at the Deffner Complex, in Wausau, on Monday, Aug. 29 from 6-9 p.m.

A private family memorial service was held in Ladysmith. with Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society assisting the family.
